NAHCON hosts workshop on Hajj management

As part of its preparations for the 2023 Hajj, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in collaboration with the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is organising a one-day workshop on Hajj management to be held at the conference hall of the Hajj House on Saturday.

The workshop with the theme: “Training and Capacity Building for Group Leaders in Hajj” is expected to be addressed by the Director- General and Consultant of Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia, Dr Badr Muhammad Al Solamin.

According to NAHCON Deputy Director, Information and Publications, Mousa Ubandawaki, other resource persons to address participants at the workshop included, the Executive Director of the Pilgrims Tawwaf Committee and Jamrat Grouping in Muassassah, Dr Mohammed Shokri Zamzami and Administrative Officer Muassassah, Abdullah Hammadu Adam.

Ubandawaki further informed that over 90 participants, including members and executives of Forum of States Pilgrims Welfare Boards / Agencies/Commissions, chief executives of international private tour operators, directors and management staff of NAHCON and other stakeholders, were expected to attend the workshop.

The resource persons who arrived Nigeria from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were received by NAHCON Chairman/ CEO, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, the Commissioner in charge of Policy, Personnel Management and Finance (PPMF), Alhaji Nura Hassan Yakasai, the Commissioner for Planning, Research, Statistics, Information and Library Services (PRSILS), Sheikh Suleman Mommoh and the Commissioner in charge of Operations, Licensing and Tour Operators (OIL), Alhaji Abdullahi Magaji Hardawa as well a senior management staff of the Hajj Commission.

Hassan had on Wednesday last week inaugurated a committee led by the commission’s Deputy Director, Training and Staff Development, Ibrahim Mahmud Idris, to prepare the conduct of the one-day workshop.

The chairman had informed that Nigeria was the only African country chosen for the training workshop by Saudi Arabia and urged the committee to ensure a successful programme.
