My wife is a party freak; refused to give my aged mother the feeding allowance I sent from UK

A man, Adedeji Aderemi, has approached Grade A Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, praying that it put to an end to the five-year-old wedlock between him and his wife, Oyindamola Aderemi, on the accounts of irreconcilable differences.

Adedeji told the court that Oyindamola suddenly changed after they got married.

According to him, Oyindamola is irresponsible and hardly stays at home.

The plaintiff stated that the defendant had strings of friends with whom she attended parties on regular basis.

He said that the more he complained, the worse she became.

Adedeji added that his wife was not trustworthy.

According to him, he sent money from his base in the United Kingdom through his wife to his 90-year-old mother for her upkeep on regular basis, but that his wife failed to give these to his mother.

Adedeji further added that Oyindamola was aggressive and a difficult person to relate with.

The plaintiff told the court he was fed up with their union and therefore entreated the court to rule that they go their different ways.

Adedeji stated thus, “My wife and I got married in 2018. We had a traditional wedding and I paid her bride price.

“Our marriage is not blessed with children.

“My wife was as gentle as a dove when we were courting, but she suddenly changed after we got married.

“Oyindamola has strings of friends with whom she attends parties.

“She would abandon me at home and stay in the company of her friends all day.

“I was disappointed and sad at her behaviour and I made these known to her, but she would always wave off my words.

“She turned a deaf ear to my counsel.

“I was transferred to the United Kingdom (UK) by my company a year after we got married.

“On getting there, I started sending money to her and my 90-year-old mother for their upkeep on regular basis.

“The arrangement was that my wife took my mother’s money to her, but Oyindamola defaulted in this arrangement.

“She never gave my mother a dime.

“I felt hurt when I learnt about this and asked her.

“Oyindamola rather than being sober, became aggressive on the phone and refused to give any explanation to her behaviour.

“My lord, I derive no joy in my marriage to my wife. I cannot accommodate her lifestyle.

“I, therefore, appeal that the court put an end to our relationship.”

The court president, Mrs S.M Akintayo, adjourned the case till June 26.
