There can be a few reasons for the constant need to urinate frequently. It could be due to: Urinary tract infection (UTI), Overactive bladder, Diabetes, Enlarged prostate. Here are some solutions for the above conditions: urge to urinate is a common symptom of UTI. It can cause inflammation (burning sensation), strong smelling urination, pain, and in some cases, blood in the urine.

For UTIs, Stay Hydrated (yup, more water intake), and avoid caffeine, spicy food, and alcohol. And visit a doctor if necessary. Overactive bladder: It is a condition in which you get the frequent urge to urinate even when the bladder isn’t full. For this, Pelvic floor exercises such as Kegels are beneficial.

Again, avoid caffeine, spicy food, and alcohol. Note that restricting fluids or not drinking water can worsen the symptoms. Instead, drink small amounts of water throughout the day and avoid drinking before going to bed.

Diabetes: High blood sugar can make kidneys filter and absorb the excess glucose for a longer period of time, which can cause frequent urination. It makes things further complicated as diabetes makes you dehydrated, and you’re required to drink water. It is best to consult your doctor and limit water intake (don’t deprive yourself of it, though.

Enlarged Prostate: BHP is a common cause for needing to urinate frequently in men. The best thing you can do is contact your doctor in this condition. Other factors include Excessive fluid intake (especially before going to bed) & Stress and anxiety. Do meditation or breathing exercises for stress management.
