My 60- year- old aunt recently lost her only son. Now she hardly goes out of the house and appears unkept and has lost her appetite. She even complains of body heat even during a very cold season. Somebody said that these are signs of depression. If so, kindly advise me on how we can help her.

Your auntie is certainly depressed due to the loss of her son. She can be assisted to come out of this unfortunate situation through the support of family members and relatives through regular companionship, words of advice and assistance with regular chores. Depending on your faith, prayers and regular reading from the holy books will further strengthen her. If all the above do not work, a medical consultation with a specialist doctor in the nearest specialist or teaching hospital to you will do her a world of good.
