Kogi taskforce begins clampdown on illegal firearms possession

Kogi State Special Task Force on illegal smuggling of firearms and other related crimes has begun a one-week campaign against illegal smuggling of firearms into the State.

The task force who took the war against the illegal smuggling of firearms to Naval base located in Banda, Kogi, seeks the collaboration of security agencies including stakeholders towards reducing crimes and criminalities in Kogi State.

Speaking at the visit, the Director General, of the agency Elder Friday Sani Makama said there is need for thorough check of all vehicles coming into Kogi State with Illegal arms and ammunitions.

He further stated that, the task force has already identified security flash borders of Kogi where the task force will be deploying it’s officers to stop criminal elements, including personnel who would be engaging in illegal duties to Kogi.

Elder Makama, however, lauded the Nigerian Navy for their fruitful partnership with the Government of Kogi under Governor Yahaya Bello assuring them, that, the present administration will not rest its oars until all criminals relocate from Kogi.

Responding, the Commander, Naval Base Banda Commodore UCV Ajulu appreciated the Government for always supporting security agencies in curbing crimes and criminalities in Kogi State

He assured the task force of maximum support of the Navy towards achieving the aim of the agency in Kogi State.

Highpoint of the campaign is the unveiling of T shirt with the caption “Operation Say No To Illegal Smuggling Of Firearms To Kogi”.
