Kogi lawmaker donates empowerment items worth N150m to constituents

A member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives Arc. Idris Salman has donated empowerment items worth N150 million to his constituents in Kogi.

The items donated include: 20 motorcycles, 20 grinding machines, 38 generators, 20 deep freezers, one camera with printer, 10 industrial sewing machines as well as 6,300 bags of 5kg rice.

Speaking at the distribution centre in Kabba on Monday, Salman said the empowerment initiative was born out of his commitment and collective dedication to building a prosperous and self-reliant society devoid of any form of crimes.

The first-time lawmaker stressed that his unwavering commitment towards empowering the communities would further enhance the means of livelihoods and create sustainable opportunities for the people.

“Let us remember that progress is a continuum and there is still much work to be done; we assure you that we are committed to your interests.

“We are committed to your welfare through championing the causes that are vital to the prosperity and well-being of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

“Today, we are distributing 20 motorcycles, 20 grinding machines, 38 generators, 20 deep freezers, one camera with printer, 10 industrial sewing machines as well as 6,300 bags of 5kg rice worth N150 million as a way of improving the well-being of our people.

“As we continue to strive for development and the betterment our beloved constituency, May Almighty Allah bless you all abundantly,” he said.

As first-term member in the National Assembly, the lawmaker reeled out his achievements in the last six months including moving motions that had direct impact on the lives of the people, tarring 1km road, and building a world-class computer centre in Iyara.

Salman added: “In continuation of our efforts to uplift the vulnerable members of our constituency, we have through the National Widows’ Programme, provided substantial support to widows.

“Just yesterday, we donated food items, clothing materials, and financial assistance to over 450 widows in this constituency.

“This program aims to alleviate the hardships faced by widows, recognising their immense contributions and providing a helping hand when needed the most”.

Three of the beneficiaries, Ahmed Ibrahim, Samuel Ibisagba and Joy Adebisi, who received motorcycle, generator and grinding machine respectively, thanked the lawmaker for empowering them with their means of livelihood.

“We thank Arc. Salman for reaching out to us in this festive season, we appreciate him for the good things he has done in our various communities under six months,” Ibrahim said.
