Former Minister of Budget and National Planning, Dr Shamsudddeen Usman, has revealed that the Kano-Jigawa Professionals Forum (KJPF) has developed a 10-year plan aimed at ensuring economic and infrastructural development in Kano and Jigawa States.
Dr Usman, who serves as the chairman of the forum, made this announcement during the 3rd Mentoring Programme of the KJPF held at the Dangote Business School, Bayero University Kano (BUK).
He stated that the plan has already been submitted to the Governors of both states, and a committee has been established to oversee its implementation. In addition to mentoring young professionals to help them excel in their careers, the forum has been actively supporting the governments of Kano and Jigawa States to ensure the delivery of democratic dividends to the people.
Dr Usman explained that the mentoring programme was initiated by the forum to encourage young professionals in Kano and Jigawa States to embrace professionalism and advance in their respective fields. The programme aims to develop their skills, identify opportunities, and deepen their understanding of their chosen professions.
The theme of the 3rd Mentoring Programme was “Climbing Up the Ladder of Your Professions: Challenges and Opportunities.” It aimed to empower participants and help them realize their potential within their professions. The forum seeks to foster innovation and self-realization among professionals in Kano and Jigawa, while also exposing them to opportunities beyond their immediate environment, both nationally and globally.
Dr Usman expressed his satisfaction with the turnout, which exceeded 640 participants. He revealed that the target was to benefit around 600 participants, including students from universities in Kano and Jigawa, as well as other young professionals. To ensure wider participation, the forum leveraged technology, enabling e-registration and virtual attendance at the event.
Throughout the programme, professionals from various fields delivered mentoring lectures to the participants.
