Judicial workers stall delivery of NAAS election petition judgment in Ogun

Judicial workers in Ogun State on Wednesday stalled a judgment to be delivered by the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal due to the two-day warning strike embarked on by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) across the country.

The Panel had fixed Wednesday for judgment in a petition marked EPT/OG/SEN/2023 filed by the Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Ogun West, Dada Ganiyu Adeleke against Senator Solomon Adeola.

The gate leading to the Isabo Magistrates Court venue of the Tribunal sitting was locked up by leaders of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), in compliance with the directive of tbe national body of NLC.

The warning strike in protest against removal of fuel subsidy began on Tuesday and it’s expected to end at the close of work today.

The State Chairman of JUSUN, Comrade Olanrewaju Ajiboye, “the tribunal is expected to sit today, but they (judges) are unable to sit because we have locked the gate of the Court in compliance with the directive of the NLC national body. This is why the Tribunal can not sit today (Wednesday).”

“We can’t throw the gate open and allow the tribunal to sit; that will mean we intentionally sabotage the struggle of the workers, most especially the judicial workers.

“The tribunal has the right to sit anywhere, but this is our own premises, we can always close it as directed by the national body of the union.”
