Jiboro family alleges threat to life over family land in Ikorodu

The Jiboro family in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State has cried for help, alleging a threat to their lives stemming from a contentious land dispute.

The family has, therefore, called upon the Federal Government, the Lagos State Government, the Ikorodu Local Government Chairman, and the state police command to intervene in what they claimed was a case of relentless land grabbing.

The plea was made by the head of the Jiboro family, Alhaji Tajudeen Ojifini, who asserted that the land originally belonged to their grandfather, was passed down to their father and is now rightfully theirs.

According to Alhaji Tajudeen Ojifini, the family had taken their grievances to the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where they met with CP Sanusi, the head of the SWAT unit, who promised to address the matter.

He stated further that they also approached Zone 2 Commander, DIG Abiodun Alabi, who also pledged to investigate the situation. Unfortunately, he said no progress had been made to date.

Supporting this narrative, the Jiboro descendants’ secretary shared that on September 13, 2023, armed thugs disrupted a market that had sprung up on the land, causing panic and injury among the local population.

They called on the state government and other authorities to save their family from land grabbers threatening to silence them, adding that they would continue to remain law-abiding and seek justice through legal means.
