JCI Odua chapter donates gifts to new year babies in Ibadan

Members of the Junior Chamber International (JCI), Odua chapter, donated baby items and cash to new mothers at the Ring Road State Hospital, Ade-Oyo, Ibadan, as part of the New Year celebration.

Three nursing mothers benefited from the gesture by tagging Tune Anifowose-Kelani’s helping hand.

The association’s president, Amin Zainab Omobolanle, led other members of the group for the presentation.

Speaking, Omobolanle, the 2024 president, said JCI’s mission is to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change, just as she lauded the commitment of the founder to always contributing to the success of the programme.

She said Anifowose-Kelani is the past national president of JCI and the founder of JCI Odua, adding that he has proved himself to be a father and man of honour.

She said: “This particular project is named after our founder, Tunde Anifowose-Kelani, and it started four years ago during the tenure of Oluwashinaayomi Akomolafe when he felt we should have a January 1 project where we would come to the hospital and donate gift items to newborn babies.

“We are celebrating the last baby of the year 2023 and the new baby of the year 2024. We actually see the need to give these babies items because they are precious kids, and it is always good to extend hands of favour, honour, and financial assistance to the mothers and babies.”

Omobolanle urged other well-meaning Nigerians to share part of what they have with society to create positive change.

In her remarks, the Chief Nursing Officer in charge of Ring Road State Hospital, Dr Funmilayo Akinrinde, lauded the initiative of JCI Odua, saying the gift will go a long way towards catering to the needs of the babies and their mothers.
