Is walking good for my health?

Published by

As a retiree, I usually pass away the time by watching Television. I can spend hours doing this. However, my friends have alerted me to the dangers of a sedentary life and suggested going for walks. I want to know if going for walks is good for my health.

Walking has been confirmed to be very good for the health. Being sedentary, with low overall fitness, raises your mortality risk as much as, or more than, smoking, high blood pressure and heart disease. An analysis of studies on people ages 54 to 65 found that binge-watching TV for four-plus hours a day may make you 35 percent more likely to develop blood clots in the thigh and lower leg.
