Ask the Doctor

Is this gonorrhoea?

Published by

A few days after having an unprotected sex with a lady whom I met at a function, I noticed some discharge from my penis. Although there was no pain on urinating, a chemist whom I consulted said it was Gonorrhoea. Unfortunately, the discharge has not abated despite the drugs the chemist gave me. Kindly assist me.

Since the discharge has not abated, you will need to see a doctor who will send a sample of the discharge from your penis for a laboratory test. The result will confirm the real diagnosis as well as the correct type of antibiotics to use. To avoid a recurrence, it would be advisable to also treat all your sexual contacts. In addition, you need to avoid indiscriminate and unprotected sex.
