INEC retires four directors

Published by

The Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) has mandated four of its personnel in the Director cadre to proceed with mandatory retirement.

Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement entitled ” Implementation of the Eight-Year Tenure Policy for Directors,” it was noted that the Commission’s stance complied with federal government policy, “mandating all directors with eight years or more of service to retire from the public sector.”

Olumekun did not reveal the identities of the directors but merely disclosed them.

“Two of them served as Heads of Departments at the National Headquarters, while the other two were deployed as Administrative Secretaries in our State offices. ”

The statement, however, clarified “that clinical officers in the medical cadre are exempt from this policy, as clarified in Circular MH. 7205/T/31 dated September 7, 2023.”

“The Commission wishes the affected directors the best as they retire from service.”
