Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and President Muhammadu Buhari - File photo
Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, former special adviser on National Assembly Matters to the late former president, Shehu Shagari, has said President Muhammadu Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu are two strong forces that formed the All Progressives Congress (APC), therefore there is a bond joining them together. Therefore, if they are still together, nothing can hinder the existence of the party.
This was just as he said that the dissolution of National Working Committee (NWC) by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of APC was in order.
Disclosing this while speaking on phone in Kano, Alhaji Yakassai stated that as long as the duo are still together, the party would still maintain to be strong. However, if they are not together anything can happen to the party.
His words “Take it or leave it, both President Buhari and Asiwaju Tinubu are formidable forces that formed the APC. So, if they are still together, nothing negative or serious can hinder the existence of the party.”
“However, if they are not together, it would not be difficult to predict what would happen to the APC. As you can recall, the APC was formed by especially amalgamated of two strong political parties.
“The CPC belongs to President Buhari, while the ACN was been controlled by Asiwaju Tinubu, therefore, so far they are still together, the APC would still remain to be strong.”
“By the position of the constitution, NEC is empowered to exercise all powers vested in the conventions between two conventions.
“So, what happened that led to the dissolution of APC’s NEC was in order and tallied with the constitution of the party because it gave the NEC such power to act on. This issue happened three times during the tenure of former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in the Peoples Democratic Party.”
