IAR&T donates maize seeds to Ondo govt as palliative to farmers

THE Institute of Agricultural research and Training (IAR&T), Moor Plantation, Ibadan, has donated maize seeds to the Ondo State Government as palliative grant to be distributed to farmers.

The donation, according to the state’s Ministry of Agriculture is part of IAR&T’s support to the state in order to mitigate hunger after the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a statement signed by the ministry’s Information Officer, Mr Bolu Ajijo, “The maize seeds donated by IAR&T is specially aimed at mitigating hunger after the pandemic.

“Target beneficiaries are farming households, intending farmers, Agriculture related  Ministries, Department and Agencies, Ondo State Agricultural Commodity Association (OSACA) and Maize Farmers Association of Nigeria (MAN).”

The statement stated further that the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Adegboyega Adefarati, would carry out the exercise on behalf of the state government .
