Body Odour occurs when sweat comes in contact with natural bacteria on your skin.
Someone people have an unpleasant body odour without sweat because of a genetic disorder while most persons experience bad body scent because of poor hygiene.
Body odour is not quite evident in young children but when they can get to the stage of puberty when it becomes strong.
If you’re the type that sweat a lot and don’t like using deodorant; you’re likely to smell a lot.
You might not know but others will surely perceive it. Aside from sweat, there are other things that contribute to body odour like repeating cloth, underwear and not bathing very well.
Some common causes of body odour in adults include poor bathing hygiene after exercising, poor health, repeating unwashed clothes, eating spicy foods like garlic to mention a few.
However, if you still experience a bad body odour after maintaining good hygiene you just might be dealing with a genetic disorder called “trimethylaminuria ”.
Monell Chemical Senses Center in the United States asserts that people with “trimethylaminuria” condition lack enzymes to process trimethylamine found in certain foods.
Trimethylamine is meant to be broken into smaller compounds and excreted through the urine but when this is not the case, the body exudes a fishy smell.
Trimethylaminuria can be treated through the use of antibiotics and dietary changes. Also, refraining from foods that contain trimethylamine can help the condition. Foods such as; peas, cauliflower, organ meats and soy products.
To get rid of body odour adhere to the following:
Bathing: It is important to always bathe regularly. Make it a habit to always take care of your body after a long day.
Shaving: please always try to shave your armpit. This is an area that contributes to body odour.
Deodorants: Even if you don’t like to use perfume you can maintain using body roll on. It prevents any form of smell.
