Foundation gifts 100 elderly cash, other items to Ondo community

A non-governmental organisation, Project One, supported over 100 elderly residents of Akungba Akoko in the Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State with cash and food items to alleviate the current economic challenges.

Speaking during the distribution of cash gifts at the palace of the traditional ruler of the town, the Alale of Akungba Akoko, Oba Sunday Adeyeye, said the initiative was inspired by the plight of the elderly in the community, who are battling hardship.

He stated that the foundation plans regular charity work targeting the elderly in society, commending the organisation for relieving the socio-economic pains of some of the senior citizens, who are 75 years of age and older, in the community.

The first-class monarch also acknowledged that the Foundation has been contributing immensely to the development of the town and humanity at large, especially in the areas of social welfare, girl child education, and rights.

The monarch said, “I express my gratitude and appreciation to the brains behind this remarkable initiative undertaken by Project One in giving cash gifts to more than 100 elderly individuals in Akungba.

“Your Foundation’s commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of the elderly in our community has not gone unnoticed. The distribution of cash gifts would provide immeasurable joy and relief to the recipients.

“Your dedication to addressing the needs of the elderly reflects a genuine understanding of the challenges they face, and your actions speak volumes about the compassion and empathy embedded in Project One’s mission.

“The impact of your outreach goes beyond the monetary aspect. It radiates a sense of community, care, and solidarity that is truly heartwarming.

“The elderly in our society often face various challenges, and your thoughtful gesture has not only alleviated some of their financial burdens but has also shown them that they are valued and remembered.

“In a world where kindness sometimes feels scarce, Project One stands out as a beacon of compassion. Your organization’s dedication to uplifting the community reflects a commitment to making the world a better place, one act of kindness at a time.

“Once again, thank you, Project One, for your outstanding contribution to the well-being of the elderly in Akungba.”

The monarch, however, called on all other kind-hearted and spirited individuals to emulate the kind-heartedness of Project One while calling on the government at all levels to give priority to the welfare of the citizens.

He said this would go a long way towards putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged and the needy in society.

Commending the foundation, one of the beneficiaries, Sadiku Shittu, thanked the foundation profusely for the timely relief, saying, “In this difficult time, someone remembered us.”

Another beneficiary, Agba Samuel, extolled the lofty ideals of the foundation and prayed for its growth in leaps and bounds.
