Face masks for glowing skin

When you feel your skin needs love and care, face masks can prove to be the solution. Whether you want to bring to life your dull skin, treat acne or reduce appearance of lines, there is a face mask for everything and guess what? All the ingredients you need for preparation are secretly hiding in your kitchen. These face masks must, however, be applied on clean skin.

 

Turmeric face mask for acne-prone skin

Acne-prone skin needs a little extra love and care and due to its anti-bacterial properties, turmeric helps in preventing breakouts and also heals existing acne. To make the face mask, mix turmeric and honey into a smooth paste, then apply to the face with the fingers or a brush. Leave for 10-15 minutes and rinse with warm water.

 

Banana mask for oily skin

Bananas are full of potassium, antioxidants and potassium, vitamin C and B6, and are good for the skin. The banana will help absorb excess oil while the lemon juice cleanses. Mash one banana and mix with 10 drops of lemon juice and one teaspoon of virgin olive oil. The more you mash the banana, the easier it will be to spread on your skin. Apply to the face with the fingers and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

 

Honey face mask for sensitive skin

For this, opt for raw honey instead of processed honey. Mix with matcha powder (if you don’t have matcha powder, cut open a green tea bag and use the leaves) and jojoba oil. Apply to the face and wait for 15 minutes before washing off with warm water.

Aloe vera mask for flaky skin

Aloe vera is full of vitamins A and C, antioxidants and enzymes which is good for dry, flaky skin. When combined with bananas and almond oil, the result is soothing. Mix the mashed banana with aloe vera to make a smooth paste, then add almond oil. Apply on the face and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

 

Brightening face mask

For those who like to glow, this mask is for you. You will achieve by combining lemon, egg whites and honey. The lemon acts as a cleanser, but the acid can lighten discolouration and pigmentation. The egg whites tighten the skin and the honey allows the skin to retain moisture and prevent irritation.

To use, whisk the egg white, honey and lemon until it is foamy. Apply to the face and leave for 30 minutes until dry. The mask will tighten as it dries. Rinse with warm water and a washcloth.

 

Avocado face mask for dry skin

Mash a quarter of an avocado. Mix with two tablespoons of honey and two tablespoons of finely ground almonds into a smooth paste. Apply on the face with fingers and leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

 

Moisturising and hydrating face mask

The avocado is full of good fats, the honey is healing and an antibacterial while the oats are moisturising and absorbent. Mash half of an avocado and mix with one tablespoon of honey and a handful of oats into a paste. Apply to the face and leave for 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
