Eid-el-Kabir: Gombe Gov lauds support of traditional rulers, religious leaders

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has declared that the successes recorded by his administration in the past four years would not have been achieved without the support and backing of the traditional rulers in the state.

The Governor made this statement on Friday when he received the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Dr Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, and other prominent traditional title holders of Gombe Emirate for the Sallah Homage as part of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The visit featured a colourful royal Durbar and other traditional displays, as the annual Sallah homage to the Government House is an age-long tradition led by the Emir, accompanied by district heads and members of his traditional council.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya acknowledged that the successes achieved under his administration would not have been possible without the moral support of traditional, religious, and political leaders, as well as the people of the State. He expressed gratitude to all those who played pivotal roles in attaining these feats.

As the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, the Governor assured the people of the State that the second lap of his administration would witness the provision of more dividends of democracy, positioning Gombe to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with its peers and serve as a reference point to others.

Despite the socio-economic challenges, Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasized his administration’s unwavering commitment to providing critical infrastructure and other social amenities as outlined in his campaign manifesto.

The Governor appealed to the Emir of Gombe and other traditional rulers in the state to continue seeking opportunities and ways to bring further development to the people. He assured the people that his administration would seek the support, cooperation, and wise counsel of the traditional rulers and opinion leaders to lead the State effectively, efficiently, and equitably.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya disclosed that Gombe State has received recognition from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for its verifiable indicators that promote and enhance fiscal and physical development.

He urged the people of the state to exercise patience as both the national and sub-national governments work to stabilize the economic condition of the people. The Governor highlighted his administration’s determination to create an enabling environment for economic development, leading to the state’s ranking as number one in the Ease of Doing Business for two consecutive times.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya encouraged the people, especially the youth, to take advantage of the growing economic opportunities in the state, engage in meaningful ventures, and contribute to the growth and development of the State.

Expressing gratitude to the Almighty Allah and the Emir of Gombe for the traditional Sallah homage, the Governor thanked the royal father for acknowledging his administration’s efforts towards repositioning Gombe State and uniting the people through purposeful leadership.

In his remarks, the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Dr Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, paid glowing tribute to Governor Inuwa Yahaya, noting the remarkable and developmental strides of the APC-led administration in every area of the state. He commended the Governor’s administration for road construction, provision of solar streetlights, healthcare facility revitalization, education sector improvement, industrial revolution, prompt payment of salaries, and settlement of outstanding gratuity for retirees, among other achievements.

The Emir described the Governor’s achievements as monumental and unprecedented in the history of Gombe State, applauding his commitment and dedication. He assured Governor Inuwa Yahaya of the support of the traditional institution in the state for the overall interest of the people.

The royal father then led a spectacular Durbar, featuring hundreds of horsemen dressed in colourful robes and regalia, which captivated the Governor and other dignitaries present.
