Delta APC endorses nomination of Ebie as NDDC chairman

Published by

The nomination of Mr Chiedu Ebie as Chairman of the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been endorsed by the  Delta state chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC).

The party also endorsed the nomination of a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Monday Igbuya, the board’s state representative.

Nigerian Tribune reports that Ebie, a former staunch member of the Peoples Democratic party, was the Secretary to the State Government between 2019 and 2021 and one-time Commissioner for Basic Education in Delta State.

He and others were suspended from the PDP in March this year for alleged anti-party activities.

However, speaking when the nominees visited the State Working Committee (SWC)  of APC in Asaba, state Chairman of the party, Elder Omeni Sobotie, said the duo deserved the appointments as they are round pegs in round holes.

Noting that  the nominees were members of the party who worked very hard  in the last general elections in the state, Sobotie said:

“I am confident that Delta State will witness a new lease of life. I implore you to deploy your good offices to attract developmental projects to the state.

“APC stands with these nominations and supports these appointments. We stand with you and by you. We are grateful to Mr. President for nominating both of you to the board of NDDC.

“Besides, candidates and LGA Party Chairmen of APC in Delta north senatorial district in the last elections endorsed Ebie’s nomination as NDDC board chairman, he said.

Responding,  Mr. Ebie thanked the leadership of APC in the state for their support, promising to bring his character, work ethic, and corporate governance principles to bear as chairman of the interventionist agency.
