COVID-19: Jigawa vaccinates 20,800 people in two weeks

The Jigawa State Government announced that 20,800 people have been vaccinated from COVID-19 in the state.

This was disclosed by the Acting Chairman of the Jigawa State Action Committee on COVID-19 and the permanent Secretary State Ministry of Health, Dr Salisu Muazu, while speaking to Tribune Online on the update of the exercise in the state, he said: “as of last Friday the state attained 32 per cent coverage of the total dosage allocated to the state.”

He said the state commenced the vaccination exercise on March 10, 2021, and so far over 20,800 people were vaccinated across the state.

According to him the first round of the vaccination exercise focus on executives, traditional rulers, frontline health workers both public and private, security operatives and other key stakeholders.

Muazu noted that the state is using the existing vaccine/immunisation structure for conducting the COVID19 vaccination exercise.

“Under the existing structure, we have good vaccine managers with over 280 solar powers refrigerators, with a minimum of one at each political wards across the state.”
