COVID-19 : Corps members distribute foodstuff to 50 vulnerable persons in Kaduna

As part of their social responsibility, members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Kaduna South local government donated foodstuff to 50 vulnerable persons in the area.

Speaking during the presentation of the foodstuff on Tuesday, Comrade Sharifudeen Ibrahim said the aim was to assist the less privileged among us in view of the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the globe.

According to him, corps members under NEMA CDS (Community Development Service) which are an integral part of the scheme from time to time to render humanitarian services such as creating awareness, campaigns, symposium, on pre and post such as floods, fire outbreaks and global pandemic such Lassa fever, ebola and coronavirus.

He remarked that Kaduna CDS group of Kaduna South is taking the lead by reaching out to the community in order to cushion the effects of the global pandemic of COVID-19 as part of its activities lineup to mark the end of 2019 Batch B one year mandatory National Service.

Comrade Ibrahim noted that the foodstuff donated to the vulnerable were contributions made by the corps members.

Speaking at the occasion, the District Head of Tudun Wada, Alhaji Tahir Mahmood represented by Alhaji Usman Sani presented the food items to beneficiaries drawn from Tudun Wada, Kakuri, Kurmin Mashi, Makera, Badikko Sabon Gari, Unguwar Mu’azu and Unguwar Sanusi in Badikko.

He commended the corps members for the gesture and for sacrificing the little they have for the less privileged during the pandemic.

The DH charged well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the gesture by the Corps Members by reaching out to other Vulnerable individuals in the Society.
