Chairman of Sokoto security community guards resigns

The chairman of the newly inaugurated Sokoto security community guards, Col. Garba Moyi (rtd), resigned his appointment on Saturday.

Moyi, a three-term Commissioner for Security in the state, disclosed this while addressing newsmen at the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Press Centre, Sokoto.

Speaking while addressing newsmen, the retired colonel said he decided to resign his appointment following a social media post going viral, which he said was targeted at his personality.

“I served the country till I retired as a Colonel, after which I joined politics to serve as the chairman of my local government.

“I also served as the state commissioner for security on three different occasions until I resigned during the past administration without any blemish.”

“It is, however, unfortunate that some people can doctor video and start circulating on social media to tarnish my image. I think the best is for me to resign the appointment.”

He does, however, commend the state governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, for finding him worthy of the assignment for the first time.
