No fewer than six persons were reportedly killed by yet to be identified gunmen at Wasinmi, a village close to Ikire of Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.
Investigations revealed that the gunmen invaded the home of a family in the village and shot them to death while asleep around midnight on Sunday.

As of the time of filing this report, the identities of the gunmen remained unknown but the state police command had visited the village over the incident.
The Osun State Police Command however confirmed that six persons that were killed were herdsmen.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the command, DSP Yemisi Opalola, confirmed this in a statement in Osogbo on Sunday.
Opalola said the six victims were a member of the same family.
The Osun State Coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress, Prince Deji Aladesawe, members of OPC, hunters and police have been deployed to the settlement for the arrest of the suspects.
