Benue LG staff sets self ablaze

A staff of a Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State, identified as Aondona Yaga, has committed suicide.

The young Aondoana was said to have committed the suicide, on Tuesday morning, after he took ill and had no money to treat himself.

As a casual staff of the local government, Aondona was said not to have not been paid for sometimes now, a situation which made life difficult for him.

A local in the area who simply identified himself as John said that the young man who until his death lived in a thatched house in Aliade decided to end it all when he thought that there was no hope for him.

“He was a casual worker and we learned that he and his other colleagues were yet to be paid their allowance for sometimes now.

“And when there was no way out, he decided to end it all by setting himself ablaze.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Catherine Anene, a Deputy Superintendent of Police confirmed the report and said that the incident happened around 8:00 on Tuesday morning.
