On December 19, 2023, the Bauchi State police command arrested a teenager of 19 years old inside a hotel room after he had stabbed his girlfriend to death over an argument.
This is painful and barbaric. Nigerian parents have a lot to do. Some parents don’t take good care of their children. They leave them alone to move around with bad friends. The questions to be asked the operators of the said hotel are these: Why did they go ahead to allocate a room to a 19-year-old? I am of the firm belief that the victim was also a teenager. Is a teenager mature enough to have access to a room in a hotel? Where did he get money to pay for the room? The Bauchi State police command and the governor of the state need to warn all the hoteliers in the state to stop allocating rooms to teenagers. Some hoteliers are just after making money without looking at the consequences. This act of allocating rooms to teenagers must not repeat itsef again in Bauchi state and other states. We need to encourage our children to be law abiding citizens. I think it is part of the duty of hoteliers to inform the police once the teenagers come to their hotels to lodge. Parents should teach their children to fear Allah and desist from any act capable of ruining their lives. Charity begins at home.
