Gov. Simon Lalong
The Concerned Plateau APC Consolidation Vanguard (PACV) has described the allegation that the former Governor of Plateau State, Mr Simon Lalong, carried away 50 SUVs upon leaving office as baseless and unfounded.
In a statement signed by its Convener, Comrade Jok Samuel Camillus, and two others, the APC group stated that some elements in the social media came up with fake news, with a wild and imaginative story that the former Governor took away 50 SUVs upon leaving office, and urged members not to read the publication and to ignore the fake news.
“Even though they did not specify the make of the cars, where they located them, or what colours they are, the cheap propaganda falls flat on its face for many reasons.
“We wonder how many SUVs Plateau State boasts of that Lalong will go away with without the State standing still and leaving stranded.
“To puncture the lies of the imaginary SUVs being spread on social media aimed at deceiving the gullible and satisfying the emotional thirst of those wishing to see the downfall of the former Governor, who remains the focus of the current government despite handing over and taking a deserved rest, the unwise propagandists chose laughable photos to accompany their mischief.”
The group further stated that rather than even go to a car stand to harvest photos of SUVs to make their story slightly believable, those behind the propaganda decided to use about 3 or 4 old cars that they snapped during the one-year memorial service of the late son of the President Court of Appeal held at St. Peter Clevers Catholic Church in Demshin Shendam LGA of Plateau State last Saturday, where former Governor Lalong, past and present Governors, as well as other top Nigerians attended.
“If Governor Lalong actually took 50 SUVs from office, is it to a Catholic church where he would hide them, or would he choose the memorial Mass of the son of one of Plateau’s prestigious daughters to showcase them?
“For the records and in the interest of right-thinking members of the public, we state categorically that Governor Lalong never took any vehicle outside of what he is entitled to as former Governor of the State,” he said.
However, the Task Force on Recovery of Purported Auctioned Government Property has declared that any report from bloggers is not the official position of the Task Force on Recovery of Purported Auctioned Government Property.
The Task Force, in a statement signed by its Secretary, Pam Gyang Davou, implored members of the public to please clarify any news from the Chairman or Secretary of the Task Force or from its official phone lines.
