Four persons lost their lives on Sunday while eight others sustained injuries in an accident that occurred at Lufwape along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The accident involved a passenger bus and a truck.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ahmed Umar, confirmed the incident that the accident happened at about 3.40 pm.
The FRSC boss said the accident was a result of excessive speeding on the part of the truck driver who drove dangerously.
He stated that 20 people were involved in the accident comprising 12 males and eight females, saying that eight males and six females sustained injuries while two males and two females died in the accident.
“The truck driver drove dangerously which made the Mazda bus lose control due to speed and crashed on the highway. But unfortunately, the truck escaped,” he said.
Umar said the injured victims were taken to Idera Hospital Sagamu for treatment while the deceased were deposited at the same hospital Mortuary.
Umar cautioned motorists on dangerous driving and that life had no duplicate.
He advised the motoring public to drive defensively, maintain a safe speed and obey traffic rules and regulations.
