Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will win in the 2023 general election in Taraba.
Darius Ishaku made the assurance on Wednesday while speaking at the state PDP convention held at Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo.
According to the governor, PDP was the only united political party in Taraba that has kept its members in one umbrella for more than 20 years of democratic rule in the state.
Darius Ishaku said the party had already started planting the required arsenal for the 2023 election for a possible victory and good governance for Taraba.
Ishaku expressed that the newly elected exco of the party were men with dodged political heart that have been demonstrated in various capacities of administrations and believe would exhibit same for the party to thrive.
However, top PDP members in the state like, the Senate deputy minority leader, Emmanuel Bwacha, former speaker of the state assembly, Able Diah, Hon Garba Ajia, member representing Takum (l), Hon Mark Useni, member representing Takum (ll), Charles Meijankai, member representing Karim (l) Hon Josia Aji, member representing Wukari (l) and many top party members boycotted the exercise.
Findings by our correspondent review that the politicians shunned the exercise following the party’s arrangement in the formation of the new officials that didn’t favour their interest.
There had been speculations in the state that the aggrieved party members are already on their way to join forces with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to frustrate Governor Ishaku’s 2023 senatorial bid.
In his speech, Rt Col Cafas Agbu, the newly elected chairman of the party as announced by the electoral chairman, Charles Minibbo who came from Rivers State, promised to build on the existing foundation that the previous administrations have thrived on.
Darius Ishaku said his experience as a military officer who has worked with so many political leaders and administrators, was an added advantage to take the party to victories ahead.
