The National Executive Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has granted its National Working Committee under the leadership of Chief Ralph Nwosu, a one-year tenure extension.
Tribune Online checks revealed that the tenure of the ADC NWC has since terminated on August 21, 2022.
Speaking at the meeting on the heels of notification of the expanded NEC by the party national legal adviser, Peter Iyiola Oyewole, the Deputy National Chairman (Politics), Dr Bamidele Ajadi moved the motion for a one-year tenure extension for the national leadership of the party.
He said it was important to allow the party to concentrate ahead next general elections, particularly campaigns which would commence next month.
He said: “Our party deserves to focus on ensuring victory at all levels for our candidates, not only the presidential candidate but our governorship, Senatorial, House of Representatives, State Houses of Assembly candidates across the nation.”
The motion was seconded by another member of NEC, Ibrahim Suleiman.
The ADC National Vice Chairman, South-South, Elder Igbinoba Festus and the acting National Youths Leader, Hauwal Yusuf, also aligned themselves with the motion.
The party national chairman, Chief Nwosu, thanked members of NEC for the tenure extension which he described as a vote of confidence in his NWC. He assured that his leadership would ensure victory for the opposition party.
He also disclosed that a meeting of all the governorship candidates would hold next week as part of efforts to unite the party and work towards victory in 2023.
