17-year-old stabs phone dealer to death in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested Abdulrahman Ibrahim, 17, for reportedly murdering a man after stealing the deceased’s phone.

On Monday, May 8, the police claimed the adolescent, who lives in Katsina’s Kofar Sauri quarters, was detained on April 21, 2023, soon after luring a phone dealer to the town’s Modoji district, “where he attacked and stabbed him with a knife on his neck.”

The accused told reporters that he murdered the victim “in self-defence.”

“I killed him when he wanted to kill me and wounded me in the hand,” he told journalists in the Hausa language.

One Dahiru of Central Quarters, Sabon Garin, Daura, who had broken into the house of one Murtala Abdullahi, assaulted his pregnant wife with a knife and attempted to rape her, was also paraded.

According to the authorities, Dahiru had previously assaulted, robbed, and raped two housewives in Daura.

During a conversation with the media, Dahiru did not refute the claim.

The command said the suspects will be arraigned in court soon.
