The Emir of Kaura Namoda, in Zamfara state, Alhaji (Dr) Sanusi Ahmad Muhammad Asha has assured of full support for the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project in the state.
Emir Sanusi further called for collective effort from all stakeholders to enhance girl-child education in Zamfara State.
The traditional ruler made the call on Monday at his palace in Kaura Namoda while receiving a delegation from a Media and Publicity Consult (MPC), a consulting firm for the AGILE project in Zamfara, who paid him an advocacy visit to the emirate.
The advocacy visit on a project, ‘Integrated Marketing Communications Campaign (IMCC), on social norms that hinder adolescent girls from going and completing their secondary school education in the state.
The emir commended Governor Dauda Lawal for declaring a state of emergency in the education sector in the state.
Muhammad Asha commended the state AGILE office for initiating various projects at various levels towards enhancing people’s awareness and changing their mindset towards girls education.
“I welcome you for this visit, we are ready to support this project as it has to do with girl child education. Our door will always be open for discussion and collaboration towards the success of this project for the benefit of our children,” the Emir assured.
Earlier, the MPC delegation led by Prof. Ahmad Liman represented by Malam Nasiru Usman Biyabiki described girl education as necessary to have good future mothers in the society.
He said the visit is to advocate to traditional rulers for the success of the project.
“We appreciate the royal father for support, assurances, and words of encouragement towards the success of the project,” Biyabiki explained.
