THE Nigeria Dental Association (NDA) has said that brushing of teeth twice daily is one of the ways to prevent oral challenges in children.
This disclosure was made known on Tuesday in Abeokuta, by the Chairman of the association, Dr. Oladimeji Abudu, during an enlightenment programme to pupils of Moshood Abiola Primary School, Adatan, Abeokuta, as part of activities to mark the year 2018 World Health Oral Day.
The theme of this year’s celebration is ” Say Ahh! Think Mouth! Think Health! “.
He emphasized the importance of brushing after breakfast and the last thing before bedtime as the best way of taking care of the teeth.
Abudu stated that it was important to enlighten the pupils and the populace on the care and maintenance of good oral hygiene, while assuring that the association would continue to create awareness to the people on why they should take care of their mouth and to also seek regular dental check up.

“Though they’re young, but they’re very smart and they can take the lesson learnt here, home.
“We’ll not only talk to them but also their teachers so that they can keep on reminding them.
“Oral health burden in children is preventive. It’s better to prevent. Most of the oral heath diseases are preventable and that’s why we’re doing this enlightenment campaign,” he said.
