Seven hundred million dollars has been committed by the World Bank to improve access to water and promote sanitation in seven states of Nigeria.
Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu said this at the inauguration ceremony of the Federal Steering Committee of Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply Sanitation and Hygiene (SURWASH) in Abuja.
The Minister also unveiled the logo of the Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply Sanitation and Hygiene (SURWASH), in a ceremony performed in the company of the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen.
World Bank, Sector Leader for Sustainable Development, Pier Montovani, said the project was demanded the monitoring the project to ascertain value for money from the design to construction.
The states include Delta, Ekiti, and Imo state. Others are Gombe Kaduna, Plateau and Katsina States.
