Bauchi Gov.
Working journalists in Bauchi State have been assured of a conducive atmosphere that will enable them to practise their profession unhindered if only they will act within the ethics of the noble profession.
The assurance was given by the State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Garba Dahiru while speaking exclusively with our correspondent stressing that as the ‘Fourth Estate of the Realm’ journalists have the responsibility of being fair, just and objective in their reportage of events.
The commissioner added that “because the public believes you and are eager to hear from you about developments within the society, you owe them a duty to be accurate, precise and clear with the information you dish out to them. You cannot afford to fail in doing this”.

Garba Dahiru who said that he is going to operate on a strange but very important terrain in the art of governance assured that he will learn quickly on the job and master the art of information and communications pleading, however, that the truth must always be told.
He also assured that “very soon my ministry will roll out our agenda for the success of the PDP led administration. We will make public through you the road map of the administration which will take us to 2023 when the first tenure will end”.
The Commissioner expressed his readiness to work with journalists in the state declaring that, “I will make my office always opened for you, feel free to come in and get clarifications on any issue before you publish, please, don’t be in a hurry to publish an unconfirmed story, remember that you have the responsibility to hear from the other side for fairness and objectivity”.
He added that “you know that the governor is one of you, having had a stint as a journalist, so, all you have to do is show him that spirit of camaraderie, report his activities positively and when it becomes absolutely necessary for you to critique please do that in all fairness and objectiveness so that your criticism will bring about positive impact in governance”.
