Officials of TUC celebrating this year's congress at the congress secretariat in Kaduna.
The Kaduna State council of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has called on political leaders to take stock and think of reducing the number of political offices.
It also called on the political leaders to reduce expenses so that the balance will be utilized to enhance other sectors in society.
Speaking during the workers day celebration held at the secretariat of the congress, at Millenium city, Kaduna, the state Chairman of TUC, Abdullahi Danfulani said though they cannot outrightly blame our
governments for the bad economic situation. that the country
finds herself now.
However, he noted that ‘we need to caution our Political Leaders at the National and State Levels on the need to
bring down their expenses as well as, reducing their numbers in their respective areas of coverage.
According to him,’ Savings received from this process if thoroughly and sincerely harnessed, could be utilized
in other areas of need in society.
“By so doing the dividends of democracy would be seen to have been felt by the larger society of our country Nigeria.
Danfulani who applauded the governor for the prompt payment of the N30, 000 minimum wage to workers, however, pleaded with the governor to intensify efforts in paying the retirees workers.
He said Congress is aware of the efforts being made by the state government in trying to settle a backlog of entitlements since 2010.
