Why we nominated Bobrisky as best dressed female — Eniola Ajao

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao has explained why popular crossdresser Bobrisky won the “Best Dressed Female” award at the premiere of her movie, ‘Ajakaju’.

Amidst the swirling controversy following Bobrisky’s unexpected win, Ajao clarified the decision in a candid interview with Arise TV.

She revealed that the award was conceived as a playful stunt to generate buzz around the movie premiere.

Ajao emphasised, “It was all in good humor. We wanted to stir up conversation and create excitement about the film. My team and I thought it would be amusing to present the Best Dressed Female award to Bobrisky, given his penchant for controversy.”

She further explained, “Ultimately, we wanted people to talk about the movie. While some may not have appreciated the joke, it certainly got everyone talking.

Unfortunately, there were those who directed their displeasure towards Femi Adebayo, who merely presented the award. It’s important to note that he was not involved in the decision-making process and shouldn’t be criticized for it.”

Ajao concluded by urging Nigerians not to blame Adebayo, emphasising that the intention behind the award was simply to add a dash of fun to the event.
