THE Chief Executive Officer of Titan Farms, a company renowned for the production of agricultural products, Mr Gbenga Eyiolawi, has stated reasons the first anniversary of the company was worth celebrating.
Eyiolawi, while delivering his speech during the first anniversary celebration of the company which recently held in Ibadan, noted that in a country where over 70 per cent of businesses fail in the first year of operations, a celebration of first anniversary is a big deal.
The event had in attendance eminent personalities such as the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji Aje Oguguniso 1; the Emir of Kano; Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero; Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi; Etsu Nupe, His Royal Highness Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar and host of others.
Eyiolawi noted that:”I once told a story of how we ate rice everyday while growing up because it was supposed to be our best food even when it was difficult paying school fees due to hardship.
“I am sure many homes were like our home and many homes are still like this. During that time, we always ate jollof rice on Sunday even if it would be made with the last cash with my mom. No matter how poor someone or a home is, feeding and eating is always a priority above all other things after which they start thinking of clothing and housing.
“With my years of experience in real estate and my personal experience over the years, I came to realise that there is a lot to be done to make people happy as there are lots of people like me out there whose lives now was my life.
“Hence, my decision to venture into food processing on the advice of my mom who is a full time food processor now but venturing into food processing is one making it affordable while maintaining quality is another.”
Eyiolawi, also informed that Titan Farms products such as rice, yam flour and other food staples have penetrated over 800,000 homes across the southwest part of the country with majority being regular repeat customers that have helped the brand become stable.
The high point of the event was the presentation of scholarship award to some selected public secondary students, this Eyiolawi said was inspired by the financial difficulties being faced by parents of the students. He said the little the company is doing to assist them would go a long way.
