Who wants to destroy the government of Buhari?

Published by

THIS nonstop crisis necessitates nonstop reactions, even as history writes her pages in Nigeria – from the sublimity of the days of Nigeria’s founding fathers to the ridiculous days of the locusts and now to the darkest days of terror.

The scholarly and think-tank editorials as well as articles of some of the best in the world of journalism on the need to restructure Nigeria now in order to stop threats posed by herdsmen, kidnappers and bandits which are being taken all too lightly by the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari, have had little impact on the decisions of government. If the government still does not see the wisdom in restructuring Nigeria now, Nigeria may suffer the bloodiest surprise in its history.

Currently, Nigeria is a car on its way to its final accident. The accident of 1914 with Lord Lugard behind the wheels is on a journey to its final accident with President Buhari in the driver’s seat. Tyranny sets in when the assertion of those in authority cannot be challenged. The regime of President Buhari says it has no plans to change the structure of government. The people say they want the government restructured. When leaders respect the feelings and opinion of the people from whom they derive power, both the leaders and the led become partners in progress to the advantage of both parties. This regime claims they know those behind Nigeria’s woes but that knowledge has become a useless one and Nigeria is worse for it. What has blindfolded them? 2023 elections!

The situation seems hopeless. Nigeria’s wise men cannot read or interpret the writing. The voice of the people is the voice of God. No patriot will want Nigeria’s boat to sink. But we are in a serious plight. Will a Daniel appear on the scene and interpret the writing on the wall signaling the end of an era? I have read about revolutions and struggles for freedom. Mayhem and destructions are unavoidable features. The signs are clear; clear signs of something disastrous.

A disaster that spells catastrophe but the corrupt politicians holding what seems like the ecology of their area while the Nigerian state reaped the bounties to develop other areas to the exclusion and non-development of their area compared with the violence of the murderous Boko Haram group fighting for a cause of crass stupidity.

Another factor is the shallow thought of comparing plundering, murderous, trespassing and rapist herdsmen with spare parts traders in the North. These shocking conclusions/ ludicrous advice are the “who” that want to destroy President Buhari’s government and not the “agitations” arising from poor decision-making occasioned by bad advice. From settling Boko Haram murderers, we have graduated to settling kidnappers, bandits and rampaging herdsmen and lastly, government’s delay in restructuring Nigeria now is the chief “WHO” that wants to destroy Buhari’s government.
