What we expect from President Tinubu, Govs —Children

On May 29, Nigeria’s new president and governors were sworn into office for a 4-year term. Not only adults have expectations from these new leaders, children are not left out. Some pupils of ROSAFIELD PEACE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, Basorun, Ibadan, Oyo State, tell what they want from the new administrations in Nigeria.

Olajuwon Oladipo, 10 yrs old, basic

My expectations are as follows: security, decrease in crime, and good educational system.  My prayer for the new regimes both at federal and state levels, is that God shall give the leaders wisdom, knowledge and understanding on all issues and how to solve them. As for the new president, his reign should rain peace and happiness for Nigerians. I am expecting reduction in the cost of food stuff in the market. I also pray for Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State that God will give him wisdom so that we can have a more peaceful state.

Adedamola Adeyemo, 8 yrs old, basic 3

I pray that God will grant the new president long life and sound health. My state governor has been kind, I wish he continues to rule us for the better. One of my expectations is that kids in this nation will enjoy good education because we are leaders of tomorrow. I want a nation that is safe from kidnapping, killing; a nation where our roads will be free to travel on without fear.

Jesufirekunmi Kehinde, basic 5

My expectations from the new regime are: security, job creation, reduction in cost of food. Now that we have a new president in Nigeria, he should restore security so that there will no longer be news of people being kidnapped and killed. Employment should also be provided too for youths and henceforth, the farmers should be helped so that there will be enough food in the nation. I pray God will grant him knowledge to lead. My expectations from our governor in his second term is more good roads.

Ireayomide Adelakun, 10 yrs old, basic 5

Our new President should please make this country a good place to live in like abroad. Other things I wish we enjoy in the new administration are, good health care services, a nation where we will not hear of fraud among the people in government as we hear in the news.

Moyinoluwa Afolayan, 9 yrs old, basic 4

I pray for our new president that God will give him wisdom and ability to lead to make Nigeria great.

What amazes me about Governor Seyi Makinde is his intelligence which helps him to do well. I like him because he takes Oyo State like his family. I believe he will do well in this second term.

Adesewa Abdulkareem, 10 yrs old, basic 4

Basic amenities should be provided. Sometimes ago, one of my cousins benefited from the governor’s scholarship so I expect more of such for students in Oyo State. Both the president and the governor should please protect lives and properties.

Nathaniel Olanrewaju, 9 yrs old, basic 4

I heard that Bola Tinubu was once Lagos State governor, so I feel he knows better to lead this nation. My expectations are improvement in security, healthcare services and removal of subsidy while I pray that God will make him live long, lead with wisdom and good health throughout his tenure. What I want from Oyo State governor is good jobs for the youths which will not give room for them to get involved in wrong things. I like the Oyo State governor because he is calm, truthful, very caring and does not keep things secret.

Ifeoluwa Mosobalaje, 8 yrs old, basic 3

My expectation from the new president is to lead us right so may God bless him with wisdom to do this. In addition, I expect that in this new regime, Nigeria will enjoy peace everywhere. Oyo State should also continue to experience peace and everything that needs to be fixed should be given attention by Governor Seyi Makinde.

Semilore Ikpe, 10 yrs old, basic 5

I want constant power supply everywhere in Nigeria, decrease in crime. I do not wish for scarcity of fuel and no more kidnapping. May God give all newly elected leaders wisdom, knowledge and understanding to rule us.

Enoch Adedamola, 8 yrs old, basic 3

My desire is that prices of food stuff will reduce, he should show kindness to Nigerians and I pray that God will help him to make Nigeria a better country to live in. The Oyo State governor should continue to be good to the citizens by providing things that will make life easy for them.
