AS the 30-day ultimatum given by the Emir of Muri, Abbas Tafida to killer herdsmen and their collaborators to leave his emirate is fast running out, Fulani leaders and Ardos in Taraba State have assured the emir that they will soon expose those behind the heinous crimes and their sponsors.
They gave the assurance in an expanded meeting of Fulani leaders and Ardos from 14 out of the 16 local government areas of the state on Monday.
Speaking after the meeting, the state chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN), Sahabi Mahmoud, said the meeting with the emir was successful and fruitful.
He remarked that the meeting was attended by Fulani leaders and Ardos as well as other stakeholders in the state.
According to him, “We are not only on the same page with the emir, but we have pledged before him to support him and to expose those behind the heinous crimes soon.”
Mahmoud maintained that “we also agreed that there are some bad eggs among us, to this end, all the Fulani leaders and Ardos were mandated to go back to their respective communities and fish out these criminal elements.
“Those who have repented, we will take their records and bring their names before the traditional ruler for record purposes and we will continue to monitor their activities.
“I assure you, we will not spare any criminal among us even if they are our biological children. We are also tired. Like the emir said, we want peace in our various communities,’’ he said.
The Miyetti Allah leader also said that the meeting resolved to expose informants as well as sponsors of the criminals.
It will be recalled the Emir of Muri, had after the Eid prayers in his emirate, warned the herders and their collaborators to stop their criminal activities or leave his emirate within 30 days, promising to kill any terrorist sighted after the expiration of the ultimatum.
