We are in Anambra for hitch-free governorship election ― Police

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mr Zaki Ahmad, has promised that the police force will ensure the safety of lives and property in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election slated for November 6, 2021.

Mr Anand said the force will do better in discharging its responsibilities in order to boost the confidence of Ndi-Anambra voters and Nigerians in general, come Saturday.

The DIG made this known during a meeting with election observers and the media organisations at the state Headquarters, Amawobia, on Thursday.

According to him, the Anambra governorship election is a national assignment that has the presence of 100 DIGs and AIGs.

He disclosed that the restriction of movements will commence at 11:59 pm on Friday.

He reassured that the Force will continue to partner with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), sister agencies and other stakeholders in election management towards ensuring free, fair, peaceful and credible elections, not only in the Anambra but also in subsequent elections in Nigeria.

The DIG appreciated the election observers and the media for their commendable roles in the electioneering processes and their invaluable contributions toward the sustainability of the country’s democracy.
