Warning strike: We are not at loggerhead with Permanent Secretary ― FCTA workers

Published by

The staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) under the auspices of Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC), on Wednesday, debunked the insinuation making round the streets that they were at loggerhead with the FCT Permanent Secretary, Mr Adesola Olusola, over non-implementation of the FCT Civil Service Commission Act.

JUAC Chairman, Matilukoro Korede, who made this known while addressing the workers on the outcome of the union’s meeting with the management, then expressed the readiness of the union to work in harmony with the Permanent Secretary to achieve the implementation of the law.

He, therefore, warned the administration not to renege on its promise to address the workers’ 17-point demands as assured by the Minister, Mohammad Musa Bello, insisting that failure to do so within the stipulated period may lead to unpredictable actions.

Korede said the union had decided to suspend its threat to embark on an indefinite strike after the expiration of its three-day warning strike.

The chairman said the minister had assured the union of his commitment to set up the necessary structure that would entrench the implementation of the FCT Civil Service Commission.

He stressed further that the minister had also promised to appoint Administrative Secretaries and Commissioners between now and when the budget is approved.
