Chiwetalu Agu
The President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, has confirmed the arrest of veteran actor, Chiwetalu Agu.
Agu was reportedly arrested in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Wednesday for wearing an outfit with Biafra inscriptions.
He was said to have been taken to the army’s 82 Division Enugu on Thursday.
Speaking about the incident, Rollas said, “I don’t know why he put on Biafra regalia. The state is hot. We are in talks with the military officials to ensure he is released. I heard they have taken him to 82 Division of the Nigeria Military base. We will do our best.”
Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident.
He said, “The command is aware of his arrest at Upper Iweka in Onitsha. But we don’t have details of why he was arrested.”
