Uzodimma sworn in as 7th elected Governor of Imo

The 7th elected governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, has been sworn in along with the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Mrs Chinyere Ekomaru.

The Governor elected under the APC political platform was sworn in around 3.23 pm, while the Deputy Governor took the oath of office around 3.08 pm on Monday

Both the governor and the deputy governor were sworn in by the Chief Justice of Imo State, Theresa Chikeka.

Presenting his speech shortly after being sworn in, Governor Hope Uzodomma poured econium on the people of Imo State for their massive support and votes for victory during the November 11 governorship election in Imo State.

The governor, who described the massive support of the Imo people as a social contract, vowed to honour it in the course of his governance during his second tenure in office.

Uzodimma vowed to focus on the delivery of shared posterity through massive infrastructure development in the state.

He said, “The success recorded in the last four years of his administration will certainly be dwarfed by the success that will be recorded in the second term.”

The Governor assured that the policy thrust of his administration will be eversive through the recovery of infrastructure, pointing out that his second tenure would continue to ensure prompt payment of salaries and welfare of workers in the state, amongst other areas

He announced the introduction of the Community Economic Development Initiative for rural communities in the 27 local government areas of Imo State.

With the new programme, every community, according to the governor, is expected to own one significant project in their localities.

To the people of Imo State, the governor called on everyone to key into building the Imo State of their dreams, pointing out that Imo State belongs to all.

The governor urged the people of the state to think of what to contribute to building a new Imo State rather than leaving it to the government alone.

Uzodimma assured of the need to provide an enabling environment for the would-be investors in the state, adding that his second tenure would transform Imo State into an industrial hub of the South East.

Dignitaries present at the swearing-in ceremony include Nigerian President BolaTinubu, former president Olusegun Obasanjo, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker House of Representative, Ogun State Governor, Rivers State Governor, and other governors in the country
