Urhobo youths call for prosecution of killer-cop

Published by

The Urhobo Youth Wing of the Host-Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM) led by Sweet Otiotio has called on the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, Mohammed Ari Ali, to investigate and bring to book the alleged killer of the police orderly attached to the executive director of Financial Administration, Delta State Oil-Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), John Nani.

The police orderly was allegedly felled by a trigger-happy cop reportedly attached to SEPLAT (Nig.) Limited, recently.

Otiotio, while speaking in Warri, frowned on the unprofessional attitude of the cop who reportedly opened fire without provocation after allegedly bashing the vehicle of a senior government official.

The HOSTCOM leader said: “As we commiserate with the family of the late police officer, we are using the opportunity to call on the Delta State Commissioner of Police to ensure that the killer cop is brought to book to serve as a deterrent to others who behave dastardly to reduce the morale of the Nigerian Police Force.”

He suggested that the Police Service Commission should make effort to kick-start periodic professional training for officers and men in service to avert similar incidents while carrying out their duties.

Otiotio maintained that police officers should be trained and retrained to attain full professionalism while in service.
