UNIBEN will produce internationally competitive graduates, says VC

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Prof. Lilian Salami has expressed hope that the collaboration between the Benin Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA) and the institution which resulted in the setting up of an Analytical Laboratory at the Faculty of Life Sciences will result in the production of internationally competitive graduates.

Speaking at weekend in Benin when she played host to the management team of the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority led by the Managing Director, Engineer Saliu Ahmed, Prof. Salami said that the university is pre-disposed to efforts that will add value to the institution’s goals and objectives.

She said that the students of Faculties of Life Sciences, Agriculture and Engineering were the greatest beneficiaries as their practical knowledge base would be enhanced.

Impressed with the authority’s research projects in the university, she said she was ready to support any effort geared towards sustenance of the projects. 

Engineer Ahmed, who is an alumnus of the university noted that the partnership with the university, especially in the setting up of a joint 

the laboratory was yielding the desired results in the quality of graduates being produced by the Faculty. 

Describing the University of Benin as a great resource base, Engineer Ahmed asked for more collaborations in the area of agriculture inorder to successfully key into the federal government’sshift of focus from oil to agriculture.

The managing director disclosed that a new  borehole project with an overhead storage tanks is to be connected to the Laboratory building and is expected to be completed within a month.
