A review of Akinpelu Jesse Akinkuowo’s book, The Parable of Success: The Hidden Codes to De-Code Success.
ACHIEVING success in one’s endeavours doesn’t come by luck; it needs adequate planning and sacrifice. There are, however, several books on how to attain success, and Akinpelu Jesse Akinkuowo’s The Parable of Success: The Hidden Codes to De-Code Success, is one of them.
However, the author, makes the message simple for the average reader to understand, while applying the codes in their journey through life.
The book starts with the author describing success as a journey, while quoting a Chinese proverb that states that ‘the journey of a thousand miles start with a step.
He explains that whatever one wants to do, then taking a bold step to get it going is one of the greatest success, as many just procrastinate with taking the step.
However, whatever one wants to do, then it must serve a purpose. Here, the author explains that once one discovers the purpose for something, then it is part of success, as many never discover their purpose for taking certain steps.
Therefore, to set oneself on the way to success, one must take the decision, while one should also believe in one’s ability to get such things done. If one doesn’t believe in oneself, then there is every likelihood of failure.
The author also discusses the importance of setting goals, as it will help guide one in the journey through success.
Goals help one to ascertain if one is making progress or not, and if one needs to put in more energy into such pursuit.
However, for every success, there has been lots of patience, and this the author explains in a section in the book. There is no overnight success, as one is bound to encounter challenges along the way, and patience and perseverance are the only attributes that would see on through. Without patience, one will easily give up on one’s dreams.
The author then highlights the importance of mentors, as there are people who have passed through the phase one is just passing through and who will be willing to guide one along the way. Mentors help make one’s journey easier.
Akinkuowo’s book is a must-read for everyone who desires success and one of its positives is that it is written in simple language, which makes it even easy for teenagers to understand.
