Four girls from the same parents have been allegedly defiled by a 61-year-old driver, Peter Ezeala and a 27-year-old welder, Elochukwu Igwilo, in Umudim, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The victims, between the ages of 10, 8, 5 years and 11 months old respectively were said to reside in the same compound as the suspects.

Tribune Online gathered that the suspects usually took advantage of the mother’s absence to defile them.

Confirming the incident, Executive Directors of Davina Care Foundation and Creative Minds Centre For Youth And Community Development, Mrs Rachel Yohanna and Mrs Ugochi Freeman respectively, said the victims were taken to a Health Centre where it was confirmed they were defiled.

She also said the matter was reported at the Central Police Station in Nnewi on Feb. 18, adding that the suspects were arrested, while the case had been charged to court.

Yohanna however said the suspects admitted committing the crime during interrogation.

She said, “We were alerted by health workers at the Ntasi Centre for Sexual Assault cases at Enugu-Ukwu General Hospital and we decided to handle the case.

“The workers at the Centre also confirmed that the defilement caused tears at the posterior fourchette of the 11-month old girl.

“The victims’ mother said she came back one day and heard one of their neighbours telling her 10-year-old daughter to report the defilement to her.

“She interrogated her daughter further and she was told the two suspects have been defiling her four daughters whenever she goes out to sell African Salad, popularly known as ‘Abacha’.

“Their mother took the first two daughters (ages 10 and eight) to Ntasi Centre where their result came out positive. At that point, the hospital asked her to bring her other two daughters (ages five and 11 months) for tests and the results were positive.

“The 11-month-old girl has a fresh tear at the posterior fourchette area of her vagina. The victims’ mother and their uncle were advised to report the matter to the Central Police Station in Nnewi afterwards,” she said.

Yohana further revealed that the victims were on treatment while the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Awka, for further investigation.

“My organisation will mobilise support and follow up the case to ensure the victims get the needed medical help and justice,” she assured.

While confirming the incident in a statement, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, admonished parents/guardians to be careful with their kids.
