Three persons were on Thursday morning crushed to death in an accident involving a truck and a motorcycle around Akure/Idanre road in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo state.
The victims, all men, who were said to be relatives were riding on an motorcycle known as Okada when the truck rammed into them, killing them on the spot.
According to an eyewitness, the Okada rider tried to maneuver and avoid the truck but said the vehicle lost control and crushed the three occupants who gave up on the spot.
The eyewitness explained that the incident infuriated the residents of the area who apprehended the truck driver before setting the vehicle ablaze.
He however, said it took the intervention of the the police who arrived at the scene that saved the truck driver from being killed while the remains of the victims were taken to the morgue.
The Spokesman for the Ondo Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) Abiola Fadumo, who confirmed the accident described the incident as unfortunate.
He said the remains of the victims had been deposited at the morgue and said the presence of policemen helped to calm the situation in the area.
